Mammals of Veragua Rainforest
Documenting the organisms that inhabit a specific area might sound simple but requires a lot of work and knowledge. Species lists can be extremely helpful in multiple ways, since helping tourism' development to give us clues of the health of the ecosystem.
Leading by Diego Salas from Veragua Rainforest and in partnership with other collegues, we are assembling the list of mammals of this highly diverse but poorly studied place of the Central Caribbean of Costa Rica. As mammals suffer in many parts of the globe from anthropogenic pressures such as poaching and habitat loss, we expect that this information can help the reserve and the country to keep accountable what do they have as well as what do they should protect from disappearing. |
